To all on the For England – Together database

Greetings one and all!

In this summer season I wanted to flag up a few things. We are so grateful to God for the answers to the prayer mobilised for the Coroners and Justice Bill back in July.

  1. Praying towards 2012. I have now accepted the role of heading up the prayer team and prayer strategy for More Than Gold as we prepare for all that God wants to do in and through our nations – along with everything else! I will want to link with many of you in the autumn to have some regional consultations to involve as many networks as possible, as we need every part of the movement for prayer playing to its strengths to line us up with Gods purposes for the world visiting us…
  2. Mobilising prayer for every sector of society - NHS. If ever there was a time that the NHS needs prayer and those working within the NHS encouragement it is now!  Check out God loves the NHS day 7th November and pass on to any in your church, group, organisation who work in or links with the NHS.
  3. A Special Call to Prayer.  As you are probably all aware, we have a number of ministries who pray into strategic issues affecting our nations. Most of this happens ‘under the radar’ but this is situation when we need many to stand in the gap.  Could you please read through this and see who you might want to pass it on to in your network, organisation, and ministry? This is being circulated to Coastlands and Gateways as well as other networks. Apologies if you have already received it! Please note I am not handling the admin for this! Please reply as indicated to please info@wineurope.org.  Thanks.

LEADERS NET

So far this year………….

During our Leaders sessions this year we are focusing on mission. The first two sessions this year have looked at Mission and Culture and Mission and Community. We continued this work when we met for a vision day on the 20th June. Leaders from across the region met to explore together what the church of the future might look like. How do we change to meet the challenges that our 21st century culture places on us as firstly believers, but also as leaders of congregations? This was an exciting day as we considered how we could ‘move out of our congregations’ and take up residence in our communities!

MISSION AND DISCIPLESHIP

September 29th 2009

Facilitated by Malcolm Duncan

Junction 10 - Walsall

Malcolm Duncan leader of CommunityandChurch.org will speak at and facilitate this participative session which will include looking at the challenges we face as leaders in the discipling new believers and hearing stories of where this is working. If those who come to faith do not fit a current ‘shape’ or ‘model’ what do we do. What does it mean to walk in a discipleship relationship with someone?

Come prepared to share your stories of what God is doing!

Please book in for the next session by emailing John at admin@thenet.org

Why not hit the reply button right now and let John know you are coming?

'The Silence' - A new three part series for BBC 2

Hello Tim,

I am in the process of looking for contributors to take part in a new BBC 2 documentary which will be entitled 'The Silence'. It is a follow on from the acclaimed series ‘The Monastery’, ‘The Convent’ and ‘The Retreat’, and we are looking for people who would want to take part in the series.

I have written a blurb about the people we are looking for, and what it would involve below. If you are happy to forward this email to members of The Net etc, it would be hugely appreciated or to anyone else who might feel what we are looking for strikes a chord with them.

The main requirements are that they:

a) Have hectic, stressful, noisy lives

b) Have not had time to focus on parts of their lives they feel they need to

c) Feel there could be more to life than what they have at the moment

 and

 d)  Would be willing to embark on a journey that sees them try and put silence into their everyday lives and learn what to do with it when it is there.

Following in the tradition of the previous series, this project will be a serious examination of spirituality, with volunteers receiving guidance from spiritual mentors. Volunteers need not be religious, but should be genuinely open to exploring silence on a more personal level. If you are keen to be involved, please return the e-mail to  silence@tigeraspect.co.uk  (please put in the subject title where you heard about the project from).

The retreat will be in the UK for a week in October from the 12th until the 19th. Those involved must also be happy to be filmed before and after the retreat and understand that those close to them would also need to be involved in some filming as we need to get a real sense of the contributors life.  I am ideally looking for people who don't have any silence in their lives and due to this maybe haven't dealt with something in their life that needs some time and focus to be spent on it for the issue to be worked out.

We are not looking for TV wannabes but people who want to take part in this documentary due to the subject and need for change in their lives, not because they want to be on TV!

Many thanks for all your help and please feel free to contact us if you require any further information.

Kind regards,

Georgie Mew

AND FINALLY................................

THE PRESENCE

Hopefully you will be aware that the next national day of prayer is happening on Saturday 17 October 2009, at the newly refurbished NEC LG Arena in Birmingham. We have sent thousands of fliers out, and will be sending more out in September, but we would really appreciate you putting it on your website, either on the home page (preferable) or under events. We realise that once September kicks in there is realistically only just over a month to fill the new Arena, so we would really appreciate your help in standing with us in this.

I have attached three icons for you to use..... obviously if you can use the big version that would be great, but realise that space can be limited on web pages, so wherever you can fit it in is much appreciated.

If you do need any more paper copies of the flier, please get in touch and we can send you some by return........ in the mean time, just a word to say that we look forward to seeing you in October, and THANK YOU in advance for standing with us and helping us to advertise this very significant day in the life of the nations of The Bristish Isles.
