Dear Black Countryites,

I trust that all is well with thee and thine.

I often start these "ramblings" with a relatively empty head, not a great surprise to many of you I'm sure!

Having just written a brief (for me) note following on from last week's "Sector session", I just thought that it's gentile tendency to ramble with intention caused it to lean somewhat into the realms fit for these gentle "ramblings" that I love to share with you guys too. So here goes, as someone very articulate once uttered, as the principles underscored are appropriate to all of us at some point;

Dear Sectorites,

It was good to see you many of you this morning. If you couldn't join us, we just thought it would be good to update you so that you know where we're heading.

The whole vision of “The Sectors” is not rooted in a meeting once a month, but is far more about YOU being released, sent and equipped where you are, and for The Church to be functioning TOGETHER in every aspect of our culture and community.

As a team, we feel that The Lord has quite clearly spoken to us and reminded us that whilst it is a good thing to be heading into our various sectors, we need to be mindful of what we're carrying as we journey!

In other words, rather than us focusing on individual sectors over the next few months, we are going back to FOUNDATIONS and examining what “The Gospel of The Kingdom” actually is.

Could it be that, like the Galatian Church, many of us have believed a different gospel??

You may think it strange to come to a breakfast, or an evening session (see below) to hear The Gospel if you've already heard it! Well, that is what many of us did this morning, and we are finding that we maybe do not know "The Gospel" quite as much as we think, if at all.

Hooked yet!

If you can’t make breakfasts, we would like to know how we can best serve you too, though are making an evening session available to you all each month now too if you want to come and join in person.

Having been raised "on the pew" over many years in "good churches", imagine my own surprise when I begin to be arrested by the message of the Kingdom, and the power of the cross 20-30 years later!

I AM ONLY NOW BEGINNING TO BE POSITIONED RIGHT TO RECEIVE THIS MESSAGE, and a large part of this is being ready to repent....literally “to change my thinking”, and be open to ALL that God has prepared.

I, along with many others, am only now beginning to touch on some of the very deep inner issues of the heart, areas that THE GOSPEL should have dealt with many years before, and many of us are just starting to grasp the freedom that Christ died to bring as we begin to understand the truth beyond the words and the information”.

Well, there you go Black Countryites, as someone equally articulate also once or twice was heard to utter!

I hope something in these mini-er ramlings has resonated in you, and we’re here to serve if you want to know any more, or come along to the evening or morning sessions described below, or even both.

As someone extremely important once did actually utter, and then write down, “The evening AND the morning were the first day”.

I put it to you wonderfully fine Black Countryites that a new creative dawn may well be upon us as The Lord seems to be unsettling so many of us around the place to start asking these foundational questions.

Maybe a New Day is upon us, and whatever stream, borough, church, organization or denomination or sector we come from or represent, may we all grasp it TOGETHER as One Body and genuinely bring glory to the God we seek to serve in our generation.

One last question, “What are you carrying as you journey?”

God Bless you all,

Tim.

As part of this journey, as we realize that a breakfast session is somewhat limited in time, we are opening up the “Gen nights” to you sectorites, so that those who want to explore this more fully can do so in the comfort of Alpha House (the chapel in Sedgley, a pretty central location for the 4 boroughs) where restrictions are lifted....................the dates for these are as below, and feel free to turn up if you so desire.

We will pick up this thread at the next breakfast too, on Wednesday 3rd March, so feel free to book in with us for this too as and when.

Please feel free to ask any questions you might have, and to feedback from this morning’s session as we sensed that many of you were very deeply impacted by what you heard.

Cheers guys, we journey on,

Love,

Tim

Ps....Gen nights are Feb 11th / March 11th / April 15th / May 13th / June 17th (all from 8pm at Alpha House, Tipton St, Sedgley, DY3 1HE – directions available on request).

Education Sector news

Hello everyone and a belated Happy New Year!

I hope you've all had a fantastic start to the New Year and enjoyed any snow days you may have had!

We will be gathering for our first prayer breakfast of the year on Saturday 13th March, 10am-12pm at The Net Chapel, Sedgley. We will be spending some time sharing the pressures of not only working in the education sector, but being a Christian in it too and praying for one another in the roles we find ourselves in at work at the moment. All are welcome so please feel free to forward this email to anyone you know who may find it useful and encouraging to join us.

In the meantime, keep your chin up and press on in all that you're doing - you''re there for a reason and you're doing a fantastic job!

Take care and God bless,

Linsey Pearson

GEN NET

Hi Everyone,

Hope you're ok?

GEN nights are starting again in Feb, please see below,

We as a team are in the process of listening to some words that have been given into our space over a number of years and trying to discern what God is saying to us now, what season are we in? What should our response be? How do we reach 1.2 million people with the gospel of Jesus? What is our role as this generation? What should we do to connect kids, youth and students across a region???

So as you can see many questions, but we sense we are being obedient and when we get any more revelation we will share it!!

If that didn’t make much sense and your interested in knowing more plesae get in touch,

(Also if you said you wanted a CD of words that mentioned at the last weekend away plesae get in touch as I’m really sorry but I have lost my list of names)

Black Country Food bank needs you??

Hello There

No, not that kind of VIP....we need a VolunteerInPerson to help us out in Admin at Food Bank. We've been so busy that we have a backlog of data entry that needs doing and the same amount of filing....

We also need someone who could come in and print / collate / send out vouchers to the agencies we work with. A couple of hours a week for a couple of months would sort the backlog but the ongoing preparing and sending of vouchers is becoming burdensome here in the office.

If you've got typing skills you haven't brushed off for a while we'll help you transfer them to a computer, cos that's all it is.

If you've got IT skills, great.

So....data entry......filing.......passionate about Jesus.....methodical.....good humoured (you'll need it)......flexible......available for a couple of hours at a time between 10 & 2 Mon - Fri.....able to get to Halesowen town centre

Sound like you?

Please get in touch 0121 448 8184 or admin@blackcountryfoodbank.org.uk

Thanks

Love

C-HOP - linking The Black Country with Northern Ireland

Would you like to take 3 months out this year? Then why not come and join us at C-HOP…founded by some BC-ites!

C-HOP based in Coleraine, Northern Ireland emerged over 8 years, initially as a once-monthly 24 hour worship gathering but then growing into a weekly event, and finally becoming what is now known as Coleraine House of Prayer. Our desire is to establish and grow a culture of prayer within our community. At present this is a fairly small ministry, with around 30 people from across the community who attend different watches over the course of an average week. We hold 18 hours of Watches each week, but also have extra prayer activities going on throughout each month. We also have a desire to see prayer and mission connect and so each person involved is encouraged to be a part of some sort of missional activity.

During 2009 we ran a pilot scheme involving 2 interns. One of which (a fellow Black Country-ite!!!) has stayed on and become a member of staff. Part of our vision for 2010 has been to develop the internship program further to raise a bigger team of Intercessory Worshippers who's desire is to minister before the Lord and see a community transformed as a bi-product. We very much believe that God has given us our own shape and sound - unique to Northern Ireland.

We are keen that all those who apply to come and join us for a season are very clear in terms of the reality of who we are and what we are doing. We are a small band of intercessory worshippers who believe God has called us to something big, as we partner with him to see a change in the spiritual atmosphere not only of our own community, but also our nation.

I hope that you will find this helpful as you pray and decide whether you would like to be a part of what God is doing in this small corner of Ireland. If you have any other questions we'd be delighted to answer them, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Please check out the internship page of our website..

Amazing Opportunity for Students and Young Professionals

Calling the next generation of lawyers, politicians, journalists, civil servants...

The inaugural ‘Wilberforce Academy’ takes place March 21st to 26th 2010 and we are asking all students and young professionals who have a passion for defending and proclaiming the Truth to consider applying. For one week you will be taught by some of the world’s leading thinkers on vital issues such as life, liberty and the family. You will learn how to make a difference to a society which has turned away from God. You will meet like-minded people from across the country that share Christian conviction and the desire to serve God’s Kingdom. In short, you will learn how to become a generation of men and women who ‘Passionately Demonstrate Truth’.

  • Learn natural law principles and the foundation of law.
  • Lead driving change in the legal system.
  • Defend religious liberty, the sanctity of life and traditional family values.

Successful applicants will gather at Oxford University for a residential week of lectures, seminars, worship, devotions, and interactive discussions designed to confront conventional wisdom in legal education and present a principled, analytical framework and Christian viewpoint. You will leave not only with increased knowledge and conviction, but also with connections to other interns and faculty that will assist you throughout your education and career.

Looking for Work

Once people have read my CV (AVAILABLE ON REQUEST) and may have something available, contacting me by e mail would be best initially - philipansell@yahoo.co.uk

I live in Oldbury and am married with four daughters, our youngest daughter is three weeks old and we have been informed that she will need medication three times daily.

I would like to find employment relatively close to home and with a certain amount of flexibility in my working hours, this could include two part time jobs.

I presently work in Wolverhampton, and there is no scope for flexible working hours.

I moved down to Birmingham 20 years ago from my home town of Stoke - On - Trent, to attend Westhill college, training as a youth and community worker.

After leaving college I worked for 5 years at the Birmingham City Mission, working with the street homeless in the missions soup kitchen, I also worked in the city centre helping rough sleepers to find accommodation.

After leaving the city mission I worked for 3 years at Adullam homes housing association, as a support working helping adult males leaving custody, to live independent lives in the community, and helping them with benefits and general life skills.

For the past 10 years I have worked in the prison service as both worker and manager, providing support advice and counselling, to problematic drug users.

As a family we attend Zion Christian Centre, having been there for approx 2.1/2 years, I am on the rota for both car parking duties and assisting with the foodbank.

At our previous church I was the youth worker for several years, providing weekly meetings for approx 25 teenagers, and planning holiday's including spring harvest etc.

Many thanks.

Phil
