A few Saturday mornings ago, we witnessed an historic event. The first ever Black Country Prayer Breakfast specifically for the Education Sector took place for two hours during the morning and was very well received. A group of educationers representing all four Black Country boroughs met to eat a delicious continental spread, chat about their jobs, listen to inspiring testimonies of how God is moving behind the scenes in specific educational institutions in the area and pray for each other and our role as educators, in whatever capacity we work. The morning was in many ways a great success and people left already discussing whom they would invite to the next breakfast in June. We heard many conversations being shared as people headed towards to the doors commenting on the fact that "Jehoshaphat from our Animal Biology department is a Christian, we could invite him" and "Anita from our Church is a governor at St Phelulla's School of Art and Plumbing, she'd love this". (Ok, so the names and places I made up but the comments were real, I promise!). This is always a good sign that the meeting was a useful one and worth sacrificing your Saturday morning for!
The next prayer breakfast will take place on Saturday 20th June, 10am-12pm, at The Net Offices in the Old Methodist Church on Tipton Street in Sedgley. Anyone linked to the education sector in any capacity is very welcome to join us. Whether you are a teacher, lecturer, classroom or teaching assistant, administrator or technician, governor or schools worker, please know that this invitation is open to you all.
If you were at the breakfast on Saturday, we'd love to hear your feedback. The network is very embryonic in its current state and we are very open to hearing and responding to people's feedback, particularly if you have any thoughts or ideas about how we could support you better as an educator in the Black Country. Just drop us a line via email. We'd love to hear from you. Also, if you would like to be involved in joining the team that heads up the network, please let us know. It really is a case of the more the merrier!
In the meantime, I hope you have a thoroughly wonderful half term, all be it a short one (that can't be bad though can it?!).
Yours educationally...

On the 20th of June we are hosting a day with the Fresh Expressions team looking at how every member of your local church can become more mission focused in respect of reaching our communities across the Black Country with the love of Christ.
During this day the Fresh Expressions team will help us to take a fresh look at the communities we serve and ask ourselves ' is who we are , relevant to the people we are attempting to reach ? In this session we will look at three models of mission and there effectiveness.
Attractional – This is asking people to come and join the activities you already have in place. Alpha etc.
Engaging – Activities that touch a community, works of service etc. This remains a come and visit us model.
Emerging – This is starting in the community and staying the community. Planting something new that people can connect to. This approach will form the main emphasis of the day.
The day will challenge our current concepts of mission, outreach and church planting and is a great opportunity for your whole leadership team to become more engaged in understanding what mission could look like in a 21st century culture. Nearly 5000 Christians have attended vision days across the UK. This is a great opportunity to learn more of this new move of mission right here in the Black Country.
If you and/or your team are interested in attending please book in at vision@freshexpressions.org.uk The cost is £5 per person payble on the door but places must be booked in advance please.
Thanks,
Adrian Lowe and Andrew Roberts

Hope your all ok?

Two of the Loaves team attended an ACE meeting recently and came back filled! they loved it. To hear about how we should stand strong and unashamedly christian. At loaves we have recently been politely questioned by social services and refuge employees as to - " why we are doing what we are doing, surely there is more to it than this, no one would do this '. There right, man wouldn't but Christ in us all would and does!'
This week we had the priviledge of helping a woman and her young son move into their new home.We along with the help of Krunch, took in and fitted carpets and curtains, provided all that they will need in the way of household items...and more, filled the cupboards with food and cleaning items. Let them sleep at our home till heating was sorted and they got use to the house , WHY?
SARA'S STORY....
Sara does not know her real age or date of birth and has never once celebrated a birthday. She guessed the year from news stories about the tradegy that happenend in Gullou in Uganda, the place where she was born, and made up a date for a birthday.
Gullou was where her father, mother and brother were killed by rebels storming the village, She was out playing and then in a moment her life changed.
She heard the screams and gunfire all around her and began to run with everyone else to escape being killed. She told me to look back could mean you would be killed so she just kept running , jumping over bodies that hit the ground.
Every now and then they would stop to get rest but the rebels were soon behind them.
When caught people were asked did they want to smile or be ugly, it meant what ever answer they gave, there faces would be literaly cut to that shape.Sara escaped such torture but as like many women did not escape being raped.
She was dragged into the jungle by two rebels and raped by both, the details are too explicit to write.
She was then pregnant because of this and still had to travel day by day from place to place trying to find a safe place.
Two trucks appeared stating they would help only pregnant women and children, Sara was able to climb aboard, thankful but also scared as she didnt know what or who's hand's she had just put her life in.
They were taken to a refugee camp where things were just as bad, women were being raped right infront of you and men were sleeping even with animals.
It came the time for her to give birth, a woman who helped in the camp took her to a 'doctor' who then told her she could not keep the children as she was homeless herself. To this day she has never seen them and can only leave her tears in the Lord's hands.
The woman in the camp, who helped her, decide to take Sara into her own home to be a servant. She was never allowed to sleep in the house or eat from the same plates.
Eventually, that same woman left for the UK and after some time bought Sara over to this country, on a false passport and scared to unbelief she made the trip.
That woman took Sara into her home, placed her in a room then invited men in to do what they wanted and the women was paid for it. Sara was trafficked.
There is alot more to this story and it broke my heart to hear it as it does to write it.
One thing i know, even though it is hard to see from this, the Lord had his hand on her life. So many times she could of been killed and wasnt, even in this country what could of happened is horrific enough. But she is here, she is safe, she has a home, and most of all she know's Jesus to be her Lord and Saviour. Amen.
This is one of over a hundred people we have been able to help so far this year, each has a story. We could do more but we need your help. We need people and churches to support us financialy, we need to employ three people, as of yet we dont employ anyone, we havent the funds to do it.we need another luton van, with one we could double our work!
Please help us get the word out and the rest is up to the Lord.
We here at Loaves believe the Lord wants us to step out, unashamedly, in the faith we hear our parents talk about. That faith is not lost and is being reborn!
The secular world will stand amazed as we do daily at what the Lord can do.
For His glory ,for only He can do such things!
Blessed to bless

YMCA News
Dear All
On 28th June 2009 West Bromwich & District YMCA and ACE Fundraising is organising The Whole Hog, a foot based adventure and involves competitors facing numerous challenges & obstacles around the course, which is based at Alton Castle (next to Alton Towers).
The Aim of the event is for participants to have a great time at the same time as raising money for a great cause. Here are some FAQ’s;
How can I get involved?
You need a TEAM! A team consists of 3 people, and can be entered into one of the following categories, ‘Adult Male’, ‘Adult Female’, ‘Adult Mixed’, ‘Veteran Male’, ‘Veteran Female’, ‘Veteran Mixed’, (Minimum age is 16+. A ‘Veteran’ team is one whose combined age is over the age of our Charity – 120 years!).
What will it cost?
BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS! Also, the registration fee per person is £35 (£105 for the team). You will also need to spend some time gathering sponsors for the event & collecting the money afterwards. If you beat our target by raising £100 or more per person, we will offer your registration fee back to you!
You DO NOT have to be super fit to take part, but the more you put into it (training, etc), the more you get out.
What will I get for my money?
By entering a Whole Hog race you will be a part of something totally unique. It is set at a beautiful private venue, the challenges and obstacles have been designed/crafted by a dedicated Whole Hog team. There are numerous prizes available for winning teams and there may well be a few cheeky extras thrown in. These events are a perfect team building opportunity, will push you to your limits and leave you with long lasting memories. Each competitor will also get a free Whole Hog t-shirt.
Where will the money go?
Participants will be gaining sponsorship towards the work of the West Bromwich YMCA which is dedicated to helping young people build a future. The YMCA needs to raise £5,000 this year to enable young people to take part in activities that will broaden their horizons, boost their confidence and raise their self-esteem – traditionally things that help break the cycle of dependence and raise aspirations. This unlocks huge potential for participation in courses, leadership programmes and successful careers.

"Father & Sons" in June
Hi,
My bags are packed ready to fly out to South Africa tomorrow to join close on 200,000 other guys on a Farm in Kwa Zulu Natal for MMC 2009.
In June you have the opportunity to be present at a similar event in the UK – all the details are on the website, just follow the links to Father & Sons.
MMC started from humble beginnings a few years ago.
When we started out on this journey our plans included a 2,000 seater tent – when we get back from SA at the end of the month we shall have to decide whether we need a bigger tent. We have approaching 1,000 guys already booked.
Please give serious thought to who you can bring and get your booking form off the website and return it asap.
There is no charge and the need is great in this nation for the men to realise who they are in Christ – so come on guys – do it!
See you in June
Richard
ps MMC 2009 will be broadcast from South Africa next weekend on God Channel if you want a taste of things to come!

United Christian Broadcasters, one of the largest Christian media ministries in the UK and Ireland, has a vision which is changing lives for good, as God leads, through Evangelism, Discipleship and Mission. UCB’s outreach is to people, inside and outside the Church, through quality Christian radio/TV programming, through a daily Bible devotional, through a variety of relevant Christian resources, through practical help and by providing prayer support, to anyone who asks.
For more details, check out UCB’s website at http://www.ucb.co.uk/. Please also look at our media web site www.ucbmedia.co.uk

UCB is looking to recruit an experienced radio presenter who must be confident in ‘live’ performance, skilled in voice tracking, comfortable with communicating and proficient with a prep sheet. You will be joining UCB at an exciting time as we look to consolidate our two DAB stations, grow and develop TV, and continue to play our role on the DAB broadcasting platform.
This position is based at our Broadcasting Centre in Stoke on Trent.
