Including: Global update: UK Season of Prayer and Fasting; Northern Ireland ;
The G20 summit; Will you join in a million hours of prayer for Manchester ?
Praying at 12 noon; Global Day of Prayer 31st May; An engagement!
Let’s continue to press on – Global Update:
News from The Joshua Project, a collaborative missions effort that focuses on unreached people groups, reports that an average of 160,000 a day hear the message of redemption in Christ for the first time. Every hour, 3,000 more people decide to follow Jesus Christ. In 1800, those who had never heard the Gospel were almost 75% of the globe's population. Today the percentage of those who have not heard is 28% which is a major move forward. However that means about 1.5 billion people have not heard the Gospel message even one time! Fifteen years ago there were about 100 prayer networks around the world. Today there are 4,000 networks involving an estimated 25,000,000 intercessors. We know that many people gathered to pray in smaller and larger meetings all over our nations on Saturday 28th February at the start of this season of prayer and fasting to continue through until Pentecost. The steering group is meeting on 27 March. Let’s pray for the cry to our Lord and Saviour to rise across our nations and wisdom for the Group in discerning the way ahead. www.candmministries.org.uk

Praying for the situation in Northern Ireland
Our Prayer Forum contacts encourage us: to be thankful for all the signs coming from the people of the land ‘we are not going back’ and the response as thousands gathered in peace rallies around the province; and to pray for all our brothers and sisters who continue to pray, work and speak out for peace and reconciliation; for the rising generation not to be drawn back into division; for the spirit of forgiveness and love to permeate every area of society.

One million hours of prayer for Manchester 1st May-9th August 2009 – will you join?
‘Over the last few years some great things have happened in Manchester . Crime has come down and at last churches across the region are starting to grow. Most recently Hope Manchester has brought great social engagement, yet we still face some serious challenges. So in 2009 we’re raising the bar of our efforts to tackle these issues and aim to draw a line in the sand, and raise 1 million hours of prayer for Manchester. We praise God for all that has happened to date, but it’s not enough. We want to see Manchester totally transformed and, we know it won’t happen without sacrificial prayer.
That’s why we are writing to ask if you, your prayer group or church would participate in this prayer initiative for the 2.5 million people living in Greater Manchester. We are inviting people from all over the UK and beyond to join in prayer for 20 minutes a day for 100 days and develop a movement to see Greater Manchester radically changed through 1 million hours of prayer, starting on 1st May. We are also encouraging existing prayer groups and events to join in this special effort. We will fuel your prayers through key requests and with exciting answers’. The campaign will end with large scale outreach events and the Audacious conference 2009 on 9th August. Sign up now, www.1millionhours.com.’ This is organised by The Message Trust (working with Audacious, Maranatha, Redeeming our Communities, World Prayer Centre and The Prayer Forum of British Isles and Ireland).

Globally: Latest figures show 176 nations registered for this years GDOP event! ‘We are seeing an enormous growth in the amount of gatherings in the respective nations. Many are testifying of smaller numbers of people but more places which means there is more depth in the prayer meetings – people are coming to really pray for their nation and the world.’ GDOP Update S.Africa. Across the UK: The new GDOP UK website is now live and we are beginning to get event registrations from across the UK . We already have events in Driffield, Norwich , Gillingham, Southampton, York , Nuneaton, Stroud and Fintona ( N. Ireland ). For more details, check out the GDOP website.

LEADERS’ NET – MAY 2009
MISSION AND COMMUNITY May 12th 2009
Andrew Roberts - Fresh Expressions Team
Zion Christian Centre
What is the session about? In this session the team will help us to take a fresh look at the communities we serve and ask ourselves is who we are relevant to the people we are attempting to reach. In this session we will look at three models of mission and there effectiveness.
Attractional – This is asking people to come and join the activities you already have in place. Alpha etc.
Engaging – Activities that touch a community, works of service etc. This remains a come and visit us model.
Emerging – This is starting in the community and staying the community. Planting
something new that people can connect to.
This is the main area of mission that we will be looking at on this day.
Who is Andrew Roberts? Andrew worked for Ford Motor Company as a financial analyst before entering training for the Methodist ministry in 1988. He served in the Doncaster and Stourbridge and Brierley Hill Circuits before working as a Director of the Saltmine Trust. Andrew developed two fresh expressions of Church personally. A Church plant in a community centre in Doncaster and the Funky Fish Club for children in Stourbridge. He leads the National training Team at Fresh expressions.

A BIBLE LECTURE WITH A DIFFERENCE!
The Sacred art of Misreading the Bible’ Chris Meredith
7.30pm 24th April 2009 Amblecote Methodist Church (on the A461 opposite Lidl)
This lecture asks some questions about how we read the bible. What does it mean to read? How stable is meaning? Where is it 'located'? In the text? In the author? What does 'meaning' mean? What implications do these questions have for readers of the Bible? This lecture will try and navigate some of these questions, respond to the issues that are raised, probably provoke some problems in our neat, tidy perceptions about the bible, and offer some radical solutions to being a bible reader in a post modern age; to being a community with The Book, in a post modern age.
Who is Chris Meredith? Chris has a first class Master's in Biblical Studies and is currently researching a PhD thesis on Hebrew Narrative/Poetry at the University of Sheffield, where he occasionally teaches. He is also currently working on several Journal articles for scholarly publication, covering: the use of space and conversation in I Samuel; the unravelling effect that Jotham's parable has for Judges 9; and a look at whether or not the author of Jonah was a good sailor. His research interests are generally literary, though they also encompass feminist theory, theoretical geography, Hebrew linguistics and postmodern discourse. He is also interested in the place of the Bible in a 21st Century Church."

DOUG HORLEY VISIT TO WOLVERHAMPTON - JULY 18TH
Calling all those with a passion for children's ministry!
A bunch of children's workers met for a coffee in Starbucks Wolverhampton and out of it came a hunger and a vision to resource children's workers, whether paid or voluntary, across Wolverhampton as well as provide an event that is relevant and exciting for children! By working together we can learn from each other as well as resource each other.
So far the churches involved are St Jude's, St Phil's, St Jo's and St Bart's but we would love others to be involved, whatever denomination, whether you have 5 children or 50 we would like to hear from you!
Planning is very much in its early stages. We have booked Doug Horley to come and lead the main children's event in the early evening as well as run an afternoon training session for children's workers/leaders/helpers on Kids' Worship. The date is the 18th July and the venue is yet to be confirmed. It promises to be an action packed day where as part of the main event the kids will also have a chance to do workshops such as breakdancing, puppets, circus skills or chill out in a quiet corner. There's something for everybody.
If you would like to know more or be part of the planning we are meeting together on the 17th March, 8-9:30pm at St Joseph's C of E Church, Coalway Road, Merry Hill. Or if you have any further questions please contact Jo Godfrey, on 01902 ... or email Liz Pemberton on liz@saintjosephs.co.ukPlease RSVP if possible if you'd like to come to the planning meeting.
We hope that you will join with us as we seek to grow together. Our long term aim is to see the Wulfrun Hall full of children praising God with children and families from across Wolverhampton , One body, many parts!
Summer 09 opportunities include Brazil , Antigua and Cape Town and there are longer-term options (1 month up to a year) in countries like South Africa , Botswana , The Gambia and Australia . All the placements provide experience in youth and children’s work alongside YFC staff and volunteers.
More information on www.yfc.co.uk/international - if you would like someone to come and speak about mission please contact Judy Lloyd on judy.lloyd@yfc.co.uk or phone 012....
Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
GOOD FRIDAY 10TH APRIL 12 – 3.00PM at ST JUDE’S TETTENHALL ROAD.
This email comes as an invitation to you to join us for part, or all, of a 3 hour time of Meditation upon the Agony and Victory of the Cross. Whilst we are mindful that many churches will be having special services on Good Friday, there are those of you who depend upon rented/leased accommodation whereby a Good Friday event is impossible.
This year (as in 2007 and back by popular demand), we have Adrian Glasspole a CMJ Evangelist to share in the Meditation. He has entitled the talks (probably 3 x ½ hour Meditations within the 3 hour act of Worship)
‘It’s Friday but Sunday’s Coming!’
Adrian is a Jewish Convert ... a Messianic Jew who will provide insights of the Cross and Passion of our Lord that many of us fail to see.
If you are like myself, one of those who cannot truly Celebrate the Resurrection of Christ without being taken on that journey to the Cross, then please consider this email as a warm invitation and pass on these details to others, especially your own Church members.
Yours in Christ’s Saving Name,
Robert Carter

PS. Looking forward to joining you on Easter Saturday for the Open Air and Public Witness for the Lord.

Thank you.
Dear friend
‘For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace, and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome’, Jeremiah 29:11, Amplified.
May you be encouraged and strengthened by these wonderful words that are so familiar to us. God is at work in our city and his only thoughts toward it are of grace and mercy. We can be assured that we have his attention and his heart is for us all.
This email comes as a reminder that our next ‘Healing For You’ event is just one week away; Friday 27th March, 7.30pm at St. John’s in the Square. We are full of anticipation as we welcome Nathan Morris among us. There is a rich unity, trust and friendship between us. We are seeing a building of momentum. Please encourage your people to be there and advertise this wonderful opportunity in your services this weekend!
Following closely after the healing meeting is our Easter March on Saturday 11th April. We attracted over 1000 people last year and expect at least the same this year. We are experiencing open doors to make the march happen. Many obstacles have been removed to enable us to go ahead. Please let you church know. We would also like as many ministers to be at the head of the march as possible. Please present yourself there when you arrive. We assemble 10.30am at West Park for a start at 11.00am.
Finally our next ministers’ prayer lunch is Tuesday 14th April, 12.30pm at Holy Trinity Church, Bushbury Road, Heath Town. We look forward to seeing you there.
The Lord bless and encourage you constantly!

On Saturday 9th May Kingswinford Christian Centre is delighted to be hosting the Midlands Regional Prayer Day for 'Deborah Arise International'

SANDWELL NET NEWS
Hi Sandwellians,
I hope you are all well! It does not seem yesterday since we had our first Sandwell Global Day Of Prayer in May last year. We prayed into lots of situations local and global. As local leaders we all feel this would be good to do again but it would also be good to get a few testimonies of what God has done over this last year. If you know of anyone or if your church has seen God do some amazing things due to prayer/breakthroughs etc. If you could let me know, it would be great to include some testimonies on the night.
Iain Hesketh from West Brom and I felt it would be good to gather a few local leaders to pray on top of one of the highest points in Sandwell, a place called Bury Hill in Rowley to hear God’s heart for our borough. Those of us that were mad enough, met together one Monday earlier this month to pray. It is an amazing view where you can literally see all of Sandwell. From this high point you do not see the lines that divide us ie town boundary lines, you see ONE Sandwell, the way that God sees it. This was a great launch pad for Sandwell Global Day of Prayer II. I am in the process of gathering the words that God gave us to share with you all on the night.
Sandwell – Global Day of Prayer II Sunday May 31st West Bromwich Town Hall 6pm - Please come and please bring your congregation so that TOGETHER we can pray and seek God’s face.
PLEASE let us join as one voice to pray into our borough that desperately needs Jesus, that desperately needs His church. It would be great to see West Bromwich town Hall full, not for numbers sake, but for the sake of encouraging one another, supporting one another, seeing the bigger picture of what God is doing and joining together our fragmented borough which sadly is not too dissimilar at times to the Church! We are all placed strategically in neighbourhoods, towns doing great pieces of work, but for one night I beg you let us come together to proclaim Jesus as King and to seek his face for the people of Sandwell.
I am more than happy to come and promote the night at your congregation, please let me know if you would like me to do this ASAP so that I can fit it in.
Thanks for your time, I know it’s a ramble but hopefully, like me you want to see your little bit of Sandwell transformed, not just physically but spiritually, and if we join all that together…
Love
