Dear Black Countryites,

We trust that all is well with you and yours.

We hope you've had a great week. I hope you are enjoying the beginnings of Spring 2010!

Isn't it great to know that Jesus has already been to the end of this year already? That should give you great confidence as you approach each day as you have put your faith in Him. The more we can give Him our trust and confidence, the better we can sleep, and the better we can smile.

Why is it that we find it so hard to trust? And why is it that our confidence can be so affected by circumstances? Life will always have it's twists and turns, so we need to be sure that when they come, we are already prepared and ready to lean on our true foundation.

Ask yourself this question, "What makes up my foundations?". We would like to answer "Only Jesus!", but I doubt that this would be true for many of us. I certainly cannot say that in all honesty. So how do we get ourselves to the place where this could be true? The truth is that we can't. We need to allow Him to strip away the other things that will seek to hold themselves in place on top of Him as our security.

To do this, He requires our permission as He is an awesome God, and His awesomeness most often includes His unwillingness to violate His nature, or our's. He does not invade; He awaits our heartfelt invitations.

Things like;

My family

My partner

My friends

My career

My ministry

My church

My possessions

My past

All of these are very legitimate things, but when they take His place as our identity and security, we will very often squirm when life seems unfair. Invariably, it is precisely these things that are very often the reasons that life can seem so tough, and in every case, we were only meant to be stewards for a season.

Family problems

Relationship breakdown/tension

Redundancy

People not supporting, backing or appreciating us

Binding memories

Fear of loss

etc

Only He can hold me in a storm....only He can carry me through the valley of the shadow of death....only He has been to the end of 2010 and can lead me through this year in His peace.

We can get to the place where we can be pre-occupied with KNOWING HIM....really getting to know and experience first-hand who HE is, understanding His true identity, being enabled to seek Him in a way that is totally original.

When I met my wife, I didn't want to know her in the way that her last boyfriend did, or to go through a pattern explored before. I wanted to know that we had a unique and original relationship and hoped that this would be unlike anything she had experienced before (she tells me it was!)....do you see what I mean??

Religion produces clones who all do the same things, expect the same things and experience similar things. Christianity is totaly different if Christ is at the centre as He never treats any of us like sheep, despite the fact that He is our Good Shepherd.

He knows our sound. He is familiar with our ways, and He died for YOU...not the flock. This is something that I am convinced many believers are not not really sure about much of the time, ie, the personal nature of our their salvation, relationship with Him, walk or destiny.

It's almost as if we feel like we are one of many....one in a crowd.......just another associate.....in a corporate religion. Yet, we were called and set apart before the crowd we are around were ever born, and we were loved and favoured long before our congregation or denomination was ever planted.

His eye is on YOU !

Let's have a real heart to help individuals discover MORE of the personal nature of Jesus, and to deliver people from religion into reality so that they can experience and know Him personally, not just sing about it.

Have a good week...He's gone before you,

Love,

Tim.

Sector news

Dear Sectorites,
It was good to see many of you again this last breakfast morning.
As we reminded you last time, the whole vision of “The Sectors” is not rooted in a meeting once a month, but is far more about YOU being released, sent and equipped where you are, and for The Church to be functioning TOGETHER in every aspect of our culture and community.
As a team, we have felt that The Lord has quite clearly spoken to us recently and reminded us that whilst it is a good thing to be heading into our various sectors, we need to be mindful of what we're carrying as we journey!
In other words, rather than us focusing on individual sectors over the next few months, we have started going back to FOUNDATIONS and examining what “The Gospel of The Kingdom” actually is. We did this again last time.
As we told you last time, as part of this journey, and as we realize that a breakfast session is somewhat limited in time, we are opening up the “Gen nights” to you sectorites, so that those who want to explore this more fully can do so in the comfort of Alpha House (the chapel in Sedgley, a pretty central location for the 4 boroughs) where restrictions are lifted....................the dates for these are as below, and feel free to turn up if you so desire. NEXT ONE IS NEXT THURSDAY----just turn up!
We will pick up this thread once again at the next breakfast too, on Wednesday 7th April, so feel free to book in with us for this too as and when. If you were there today, we will automatically book you in, so please tell us if you’re NOT able to make it then. We will take some form of offering for our speakers at this next session, so if you can come prepared to give in the measure that you feel you have received over these recent breakfasts, that would be very honouring.
Please feel free to ask any questions you might have, and to feedback from this morning’s session as we sensed that many of you were very deeply impacted by what you heard.
Cheers guys, we journey on,
Love,
Tim
On behalf of The Sector team
Ps....Gen nights are - April 15th / May 13th / June 17th (all from 8pm at Alpha House, Tipton St, Sedgley, DY3 1HE – directions available on request

OTHER NEWS –

INTRODUCING ‘RELIVE RESOURCES’

(these come highly recommended for kids work - schools' work)

As a church children’s ministry leader myself, I know how important it is to present stories and truths of the Bible to children in an imaginative, engaging and memorable way. However, it can sometimes be difficult to find resources that will have a lasting impact on your children’s and family ministry.

We want to tell you about a brand new resource aimed at bringing the Bible to life in a new and exciting way.

Relive Resources is a series of 12 stunning short films, based on The Easter Story and Jesus’ Miracles. In these films, we meet Biblical characters who give accounts of their incredible encounters with Jesus. We explore what it really must have been like to be around Jesus and to be a part of his life changing ministry.

The Box Sets are available as ‘Easter’ Churches or Schools Packs and ‘Miracles’ Churches or Schools Packs’.

Along with the DVD box sets, we have also produced follow up material for use in churches and primary schools. Written by teachers, and children’s ministry leaders, these resources include Sunday school programmes, family service object talks, craft activities and templates, National Curriculum based RE lessons, assembly outlines, and comprehensive teacher’s background notes. We also provide you with a free public display licence with every purchase.

As a church, you may want to take the opportunity to use these resources yourself, and also to invest in your local primary school(s) and teachers by gifting them with a Relive box set. This will ensure that the Christian Faith is being presented in your local school in an exciting and relevant way, as well as giving staff and children a deeper understanding of who Jesus really is.

Now, I am sure you may be asking the question; ‘How much?’ Each pack costs only £45.00 or you can buy 2 packs for £80.00. Both packs would provide you with all 12 films and the relevant follow up resources to last you at least a whole term!

The packs are available from our website www.reliveresources.co.uk Here you can also find out about the resources on offer in more detail and read what teachers and churches are saying about Relive. You can also watch clips from some of the films and download sample resources. We would be really grateful if you could take a moment to visit this site and see for yourselves!

Many Thanks,

James Hamilton (Relive Resources)

Black Country authors

We told you some weeks ago of the good news for a young Black Country writer who had seen great success with her new book “Fairy Tale of New York”. We wish Miranda Dickinson of Kingswinford continued success. Well, we have heard of another up and coming author who is also hoping to see the work of his hands released further. Please read this below from Adam Jenkins who lives in Walsall and attends The Church @ Junction 10 (admission - he used to be in my youth group so I am very biased....so much so that I have already purchased a copy!!)

Adam writes.....

The aims of my Novel are quite simple really, to make The Bible relevant, and for today, for everyone, we harp on about the youth needing the truth of the Gospel. ‘No’ it’s for all of us; we all need to be exposed to the truths that lie within the good book. My novel brings bible scripture and a great story to the forefront of a fictional myth, but there is one thing that is true, the bible passages that are held within it.

Novels, and now movies, like the Da Vinci code do make false claims and bend the truth, and make the art of telling a story, oh so complicated indeed the one thing that strikes you with this Novel, is that it is exciting and fast paced and makes you want to explore the bible more, asking more probing questions, giving us a modern day character like the Apostle Paul, a person who isn’t perfect and he gets it wrong at times, but his heart is true, only seeking Him out, driven by his love and obedience to his Lord.

We can all learn something from a series like this, the world grasped onto the world of Harry Potter, so why can’t the church grab firmly to this a God filled Novel without all the pomp and religionistic ceremony of others. Why make a story so complicated, Lucus and Spielberg have been doing simple reluctant hero stories for years, it’s a simple formula that clearly works.

The heart and soul of it, I read recently on the back of a’ Land Rover’ of all things. ‘One Life, Live it’ Yes, that is right in the fullness of life, yes I have one chance, one opportunity to make something of myself, I can only do the things that God can equip me for, only pushing on the doors He leads me too, oh yes He can do all things through the faith of the believers. ‘I believe, I have faith and I trust in His judgement’.

I write because I love to write, if indeed I gain fame and fortune it’s only due to my diligence and hard work, but never talent. It’s my opinion God, our heavenly father blesses our character, but hardly ever blesses our talents; don’t misunderstand me, nor loose me in this statement. God blesses you with a ‘Talent’ not because of it.

I give you a great example:

A young lad comes home from school; he’s been selected to play football for his School, because he is a talented football player.

But when he gets home to tell his parents of the great news, he continues to do his chores and to keep his room tidy, and to help his mother etc etc….

His father rewards him by buying him a new pair of football boots, he didn’t reward his ‘talent’ he rewarded his ‘character’ for doing the jobs and chores he did before and as he always did.

Do you understand now? Talent is something you are blessed with, we are truly blessed when we understand God blesses us through our diligence, our patience, our honesty, our integrity and many more I’d expect, but the main one and the most ‘Key’ is our faith and love in Him.

“WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS…..”

Remembering Mark Williamson

What?

“With a little help from my friends” is the title of a fundraising concert for Mark Williamson. The evening will complement a benefit concert being planned in Los Angeles.for him.

Who?

Mark Williamson spent many years living in Dudley and worked in music and church based youth work. Twenty years ago he moved to the USA where he lives in Tenessee with his wife and 3 children under 10.. In the USA Mark had much success in the music industry working with people as diverse as Roger Daltrey, George Harrisson, Denise Williams, Bryan Adams etc.

Sadly 8 years ago Mark was diagnosed with a chronic progressive illness, and is now unable to work.

Why?

Chris Eaton of Kinver, who is helping to organise the concert visited Mark recently. The chronic nature of the situation means access to medication is difficult. The simple aim of the concert is to raise enough money to buy 3 months medication for Mark, during which time he can consider future treatment options.

How?

The concert is being arranged by friends from the Midlands Appearing on stage will be Chris Eaton, Dave Pope, members of Cliff Richards backing band, Victoria Williamson and other surprise guests. Everyone is donating their time free of charge, so every penny from ticket sales will go direct to Marks health care. The target is £3000 from the evening.

When?

Saturday April 24 at 7.3:00pm at AMBLECOTE CHRISTIAN CENTRE. Tickets are £10 and available from tim@thenet.org.uk OR telephone 01902 880000. SAE's need to be sent to AMBLECOTE CHRISTIAN CENTRE, Brettel Lane, Amblecote, DY8 4BS with cheques payable to "AMBLECOTE CHRISTIAN CENTRE" (tbc).

Quotes

“ Having spent time with Mark in the States in February, and seen his tough situation firsthand, I conceived of the concert. The support of musicians has been unbelievable.”

Chris Eaton singer/songwriter

“ I am thrilled that some of dads friends have offered to set up this concert. I am glad I can play a small part by sharing some of my favourite songs as part of the evening “

Victoria Williamson singer
