Dear Black Countryites,
Warm greetings to you all.
I am sure many of you have been affected by the recent "ash cloud" episode....me too!
We went for an Easter break to Spain for a week on 9th April and only got back yesterday! Hence, sincere apologies to those of you who sent us things to send around with date sensitive data, but what can you do with these volcano's eh....whatever next!
As we we have quite a lot of stuff to send you this time, please allow me the "ash cloud" grace to hide my ramblings behind two "daily devotionals", the only one I have subscribed to in recent years, and from the same author of the very wonderful "The Sacred Romance" which I have referred to a few times of late.......;
You Have a New Life
The new covenant has two parts to it: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezek. 36:26). God removed your old heart when he circumcised your heart; he gives you a new heart when he joins you to the life of Christ. That’s why Paul can say “count yourselves dead to sin” and “alive to God in Christ Jesus” (Rom. 6:11).
The story of the Incarnation is the story of a descent and resurrection . . . one has the picture of a diver, stripping off garment after garment, making himself naked, then flashing for a moment in the air, and then down through the green, and warm, and sunlit water into the pitch black, cold, freezing water, down into the mud and slime, then up again, his lungs almost bursting, back again to the green and warm and sunlit water, and then at last out into the sunshine, holding in his hand the dripping thing he went down to get. This thing is human nature. (C. S. Lewis, “The Grand Miracle”)
The Resurrection affirms the promise Christ made. For it was life he offered to give us: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). We are saved by his life when we find that we are able to live the way we’ve always known we should live. We are free to be what he meant when he made us. You have a new life—the life of Christ. And you have a new heart. Do you know what this means? Your heart is good.
The Depth of His Love
Have you ever had to literally turn a lover over to a mortal enemy to allow her to find out for herself what his intentions toward her really were? Have you ever had to lie in bed knowing she was believing his lies and was having sex with him every night? Have you ever sat helplessly by in a parking lot, while your enemy and his friends took turns raping your lover even as you sat nearby, unable to win her heart enough so she would trust you to rescue her? Have you ever called this one you had loved for so long, even the day after her rape, and asked her if she was ready to come back to you only to have her say her heart was still captured by your enemy? Have you ever watched your lover’s beauty slowly diminish and fade in a haze of alcohol, drugs, occult practices, and infant sacrifice until she is no longer recognizable in body or soul? Have you ever loved one so much that you even send your only son to talk with her about your love for her, knowing that he will be killed by her? (And in spite of knowing all of this, he was willing to do it because he loved her, too, and believed you were meant for each other.)
All this and more God has endured because of his refusal to stop loving us. Indeed, the very depth and faithfulness of his love for us, along with his desire for our freely given love in return, are what give Satan the ammunition to wound God so deeply as he carries out his unceasing campaign to make us into God’s enemy.
I hope yo found these words encouraging and challenging.
Tim.
For YOUR NETwork of Black Country Christians
Dear Sectorites,
Greetings!!
Here we are again giving you a gentle reminder that we’re here to connect with in many ways.
We’re carrying on with what we sense The Lord is asking us to do in 2010, ie, rather than us focusing on individual sectors over the next few months, we have started going back to FOUNDATIONS and examining what “The Gospel of The Kingdom” actually is. We feel we need to press into this further.
As we told you a few times now, as part of this journey, and as we realize that a breakfast session is somewhat limited in time, we are continuing to open up the “Gen nights” to you sectorites too, so that those who want to explore this more fully can do so in the comfort of Alpha House (the chapel in Sedgley, a pretty central location for the 4 boroughs) where restrictions are lifted....................the dates for these are as below, and feel free to turn up if you so desire.
We have been pleasantly surprised at how many of you have joined us, in fact we have a very positive problem to deal with shortly, ie, there’s too many of us!!
We will pick up this thread once again at the next breakfast too, on Wednesday 5th May so feel free to book in with us for this too as and when.
Cheers all, we journey on,
Love,
Tim
On behalf of The Sector team
Ps....Gen nights are - May 13th / June 17th (all from 8pm at Alpha House, Tipton St, Sedgley, DY3 1HE – directions available on request
NEXT Leaders’ Net is on Tuesday 4th May:

Leaders Net
Tuesday 4th May 2010
9.30am for coffee.
Church at Junction 10
323 Wolverhampton Road
Walsall. WS2 8RL
Here is what the Core Team say: -
Leadership can be both an enormous joy, but also a huge responsibility, and often we feel the very real weight of the calling that we have to lead the people of God. Therefore, we want to use our next three of our Leaders Net mornings to focus specifically around our roles as leaders. 2010 is the year in which we want to address a number of issues related specifically to leadership.
Each session will have four elements,
· Biblical input/teaching
· Opportunity for discussion
· Telling a story
· Prophetic input
Please come prepared to take an active part in discussions, but also come prepared to pray with colleague leaders and give prophetic input into their lives. We would like to think that each time we meet, the body of Christ can minister to each other.
The Leader & Self Leadership - 4th May 2010 - Junction 10, Walsall
Many would agree that first we must become leaders of ourselves before we can become leaders of others; in this session we will focus on self leadership.
Adrian, Leon & Paul.

Dear friend
What a great blessing our Easter March of Hope proved to be as hundreds of believers gathered to celebrate the central message of our faith on Saturday. There was also a record number of ministers present, a wonderful signal of our unity and mutual affirmation.
We are beginning to receive feedback and comments, all of which is welcome and will be taken into consideration for the future.
Please tell your congregation what a blessing the day was and put down a marker for next year!!
Now onto other things:

PRAYER News Update: April-May 2010
From the Prayer Forum of the British Isles and Ireland
A call to pray for politics, government and nation
‘I urge then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good and pleases God our Saviour’ 1 Tim 2:1-2
20 April Registration deadline for candidates to stand and for registering to vote
6th May Elections in 650 UK constituencies; All London Boroughs and
134 English Local Authorities.
The importance of the need to engage with the political process in our nation cannot be over stated as we approach this 2010 General Election and local government elections. Many people have been completely put off politics by the expenses scandal and apathy is reigning. It is estimated that 3 million people have not yet registered to vote. And while the urgency of this season has been picked up by some Christians, we have a long way to go before we see the whole Body of Christ come humbly before God to ask for his forgiveness and His mercy.
Let us do all that we can to encourage each other to:
- Listen for what the Holy Spirit is saying to the Church in this season
- Watch for how God is at work in the election process
- Pray for the political process, our Queen, government and nation
- Mobilise others in our churches, organisations and networks to engage, get informed, to vote, pray and act as the Holy Spirit leads
A number of initiatives have been started to enable us to pray where we are – in unity with others: e.g.
At noon each day: join thousands praying the Lord’s Prayer across Scotland, in 24-7 prayer movement and Global Day of Prayer London. Or the Noon Prayer (www.noonministries.org.uk)
On Thursdays to pray and fast
On May 4,5,6 – to pray & fast around the election time (Habakkuk 3:2)

A prayer
Lord, we give thanks for the privileges and responsibilities of living in a democratic society. Give us wisdom to play our part at election time, that through the exercise of each vote, your Kingdom may come closer. Protect us from the sins of despair and cynicism, guard us against the idols of false utopias and strengthen us to make politics a noble calling that serves the common good of all. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen. www.cofeanglican.org
Maybe it’s time for us to press the ‘mute’ button on the radio, TV, computer or iPhone instead of complaining about what we are listening to – and pray for ‘His kingdom to come, His will to be done’?
