Dear Black Countryites,

As many of you know, I often "ramble on" at the start of these e-mails, and sometimes these thoughts meander their merry way into some of your lives, and I always love to hear your feedback, so thanks to so many of you who have taken the time to send me a few thoughts over the years, especially those that don't verbally tie me to the stake as a heretic!

This time, I want to give way to a wider agenda again which is something I genuinley believe in, especially when something concerns our nation. As "The Net", many of us that make up a central group of people that regularly "do things" for our network hub, and hopefully many of you guys out there, carry some kind of vision.....

- for our own lives

-for our own churches/organizations

-for our town/city

-for our region, The Black Country.

We often encourage you guys to think wider, not bigger, as this word is so loaded, and we need to follow suit by thinking and envisioning on an even wider scale. So, as we link in Ian, Pauline, Jane and the team at WPC (World Prayer Centre) in many ways, but primarily for the prayer agenda they continually bring to the nation and the nations, I wanted to honour them again this time by giving over the "ramblings" to them.

Here is what they sent out this week concerning our nation;

"A CONTINUED CALL TO PRAYER FOR OUR NATIONS"

Our nations are in a time of confusion and uncertainty. Our politicians are struggling to bring order out of seeming chaos. The embarrassment of a nation that once had an empire on which the sun never set, that gave the world what was called the “mother of parliaments” and took the Christian Message of love, hope and life, in the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ around the world, is clear for all to see. Much of what has been said by our politicians in recent weeks has confirmed our belief that something is very wrong with 21st century British society.

Until our Nation understands that our problems stem from spiritual and moral failings rather than the worship of mammon that leads to financial bankruptcy, nothing will improve. It is plain for those who have eyes to see and ears to hear that since we as a family of nations and the rest of the western world turned from a Christian basis of laws and governance to a secular agenda there has been an increasing spiral downwards in national, local and family life.

Laws that encouraged, strengthened and gave boundaries to family, community and national life, have been replaced by laws many of which do the opposite. Our financial system that once was the envy of the world has been exposed for its greed and corruption and the lie that we can have today and pay sometime in the future, has also been exposed through individual and national debt the like of which we have never seen.

So is there any hope? YES!! As Christians we believe that God has given us the Bible, His word as a light to our feet and a lamp to our path. If we as a nation and we as the church in the nation just took the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount taught by Jesus, for our rule book, things would be very different. If we as the church and we as a nation would humble ourselves repent of the fact that we have by our words and actions told God we do not need Him, repent of our greed, our selfishness and our idolatry and would seek Him with all our hearts and minds He will come and heal our land. That is our hope, for God is a very present help in time of trouble.

We call upon the Body of Christ to stand together in truth, humility, prayer and worship at this time of huge political change across our family of nations.

We continue to pray

  • For those in authority over us.
  • For our Queen and her advisers.
  • For our new Prime Minister David Cameron, for Nick Clegg and all in political leadership, both national and local, that they will have wisdom, humility and generosity of spirit.
  • For blessing on Gordon Brown and his family.

We pray in the confusion and uncertainty, that the values of God’s Kingdom, righteousness, truth, justice, humility, integrity and hope, will be increasingly released through His people……

  • Politically
  • Financially
  • Socially
  • Environmentally

We give thanks to God for all those who voted, for the willingness of people to stand for election, that there is peace in our streets and that above all that Jesus Christ is Lord and in Him we put our trust.

The WPC team

Some scriptures for reflection at this time: Psalm 64 and Psalm 73

I hope you found these words encouraging and challenging, and once again, we thank WPC for their leadership to The Church in our region and nation once more. May we receive them, and this call in the way Jesus would have us do so, and hopefully to open doors that will amaze us in the years that lie ahead.

We urge you to pray, and to call those around you and in your congreagtions and organizations to stand together at this critical time for "these islands".

Love,

Tim.

Sector news

Dear Sectorites,

Greetings!!

Here we are again giving you a gentle reminder that we’re here to connect with in many ways.

We’re carrying on with what we sense The Lord is asking us to do in 2010, ie, rather than us focusing on individual sectors over the next few months, we have started going back to FOUNDATIONS and examining what “The Gospel of The Kingdom” actually is. We feel we need to press into this further.

We meet again on Wednesday 2nd June....same time and place!

Please let us know if you need more details.

Cheers all, we journey on,

Love,

The Sector team

Ps....Gen nights are - June 17th (8pm at Alpha House, Tipton St, Sedgley, DY3 1HE – directions available on request)

Education Breakfast

Hi everyone,

I do hope this email finds you well.

Just to let you know that our next Education Sector Breakfast will take place on Saturday 22nd May, from 10am-12pm.

Please feel free to invite anyone else you feel may be interested in and encouraged by attending.

The breakfasts have been extremely well received by those who have attended in the past, with many commenting on how refreshed and encouraged they felt afterwards. We know it's a big sacrifice to give up your Saturday mornings - we feel it too! But we can honestly say, it will be worth the sacrifice if you can make it. You never know how someone may encourage you....and you never know how you may encourage them.

We look forward to seeing you there.

GENnet Kids Weekend

Hi,

I’ve enclosed details of our weekend away for children which will take place on Friday 17th-Sunday 19th September 2010.

It is for children who are currently in School Yrs 3-6 (2009-2010 school yr).

It is £45 and includes accommodation, food and plenty of activities. Last year we had over 100 on the weekend and it sold out.

We are expecting it to be extremely popular again this year, so book in early to avoid any disappointment.

Booking opens on the 1st March. (Booking received before won’t be processed until 1st March).

We do have the extra facility of camping this year which is at a cheaper rate of £25- you would need to provide tents and sleeping equipment but all food and activities are included.

Please read through the attached information and if we can provide any more information, please contact Phil

Looking forward to a great weekend

Kind Regards

THE NEED (e-mail sent out 11th May - am)

Subject: family in need

Hi There, for some time we have been praying for a family who's 2 year old son, Noah, has leukaemia. He had a transplant and all the results came back good, that was around 2 weeks ago. Since then the cancer has returned aggressively and they have said there is nothing more can be done and gave him weeks to live. We are still standing in faith that the Lord will step in, please join us in prayer.

The family have have another four young children. Naomi, Noah's mother, wants him to be able to enjoy what life he has left and wants him to be able to go in to the garden. I saw the garden for the first time today and it is humongous! at the same time dangerous for any of the children to go in. Within a few steps of the back door there is a drop of about 5 feet on to grass land full of rubble and glass etc. The garden leads down into a group of trees which behind those is a rail road track.

I am use to dealing with council and know that although they should step in haven't and time is now of the essence. I will be contacting council tomorrow but i am steeping out in faith that there are people out their who will step in and contribute in some way for this family.

I am asking for anyone who will donate to this family, someone who deals in fencing, landscaping, gardening, a skip, garden toys. Anyone who can build a wall to prevent the risk of one of the children getting hurt.

There time has been taken up with Noah and hospitals for so long they haven't the energy or finances. I cannot imagine, as a mother myself, what pain they must feel.

I can't help but want to try and get support this family in anyway that i can, who wouldn't? In faith i am sending this email as a desperate plea to anyone who reads it, please help with what you can and in any way that you can.

Together we are stronger.

Yours in Him

Anna x

Well guys today has been amazing, i love how people get together at times like this!!

Update:

Council was contacted this morning with a repair list that has been on file for the past 4 years, an amazing woman called Mary dealt with call and has been on the phone all day.

Every repair is not only being dealt with but a management team went out to the family within two hours of us phoning today!

Another member of the management team also promised to do fencing and brick work within the next 5 days.

A skip company from Smethwick has donated a skip free of charge being delivered tomorrow and council are sending out a team to remove any rubble, trees etc.

An organisation called promised dreams has said they will help with what they can, application in the post and process promised to take days.

Krunch has said they are willing to send a team to do garden work.

A couple from Amblecote are sending a cheque direct to the family.

Another couple have emailed saying they want to help buy toys for the garden.

Tesco have said they will look into helping from the community fund.

IHG,(inter continental hotels group) are looking into getting the family a short break and are doing a fund-raising day on Thursday, also offering manual labour .

Pat Collins fair offering free tickets for the whole family

The list goes on and we are still receiving calls and emails!!!!

To God be the glory great things HE has done!!!

Magnus Ad email copy.jpg

During the summer of 1998 Magnus and Gunilla Persson moved to Malmö with their family and a number of friends and co-workers. They moved here with the dream of starting a new church for a new generation in this region called the Øresund region. They had worked with Christian youth activities for many years in the organization New Generation, where they arranged ground breaking activities to present the gospel to teenagers and young people.
In February 1999 they had the first gathering in the living room of Magnus and Gunilla’s apartment at Betaniaplan 1. On August 22:nd the same year they started congregation activities and services within the framework of New Generation in Ungdomens Hus (House of the young) at Norra Skolgatan. The extensive activities of New Generation constricted the dream and the possibilities of local congregation activities in Malmö. After New Generation arranged the big and historical event “Rock the Globe” in the Globe in Stockholm on October 27th – 28th in 2000, where more than 10 000 young people attended, they decided to discontinue all activities within New Generation and go for the dream of a new church in Malmö and the Øresund region.

Today UNITED ØRESUNDSKYRKAN is known for communicating the gospel in a fresh and folksy package to a multitude of non churchgoers and non believers.
